We've been playing with OPPO's R11 for quite some time now - in fact, we've even got a review up (spoilers: we dig it) - and at last, we know when you'll be able to buy one.
OPPO today announced that R11 will go on sale on August 7 retailing for $649. The R11 is a device we've been referring to as "OPPO's iPhone 7 Plus" thanks to its dual rear-facing camera configuration that works in a similar manner to Apple's.
With two sensors on the back - a 16MP primary camera and a 20MP secondary camera - the R11 is able to simulate up to two times zoom by swapping between lenses. Much like the iPhone 7 Plus, the R11 is able to use the dual rear-camera configuration for a portrait mode. The two cameras are used to get a better sense of depth, which is then used to blur the background.
Other key specifications include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 660 eight-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, and a 3000mAh battery. The R11 runs OPPO's customised version of Android - ColorOS - based on Nougat.
JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and Officeworks will range the R11 outright, and Woolworths, Virgin, and Vodafone will all offer the phone on a contract. JB Hi-Fi will be taking R11 pre-orders from July 31, and almost everyone else will be selling the phone from August 7. Vodafone is the odd one out, and will have the R11 from August 9. The R11 will be available in a choice of black or gold locally.
