If you're down with paying a stupid amount of money for a phone plan, Telstra's upped the data allowance on its $195 XXL phone plans to 75GB per month until September 4.
While data might be the drawcard, international roaming inclusions are probably the main reason you'd take out Telstra's behemoth of a phone plan. Your monthly bill not only gets you unlimited talk and text while overseas, but 1.5GB of roaming data per month. Given that Telstra's roaming rates are $10 per day for most countries, this can work out to be good value if you're spending a decent chunk of the year overseas.
The XXL plan also includes "StayConnected Plus", Telstra's exchange and replacement service for smartphones. Normally billed at $15 per month, the inclusion means Telstra will dispatch you a replacement device within a business day if your phone is damaged.
Every phone in Telstra's range is available on the XXL plan with no additional handset fees. Here's a couple of our favourite options:
Telstra isn't the only telco offering large amounts of data for ludicrous sums of money: Optus has a $160 per month option that includes 100GB.
If you're happy with being stuck on 3G (and 3G speeds), telcos like Jenee and Moose can hook you up with a big cap for a somewhat more affordable price.
