We love less conventional smartphone colours at WhistleOut, so we're thrilled to see the release of OPPO's R11 in a fetching shade of red. The red limited edition will be exclusively available through JB Hi-Fi, and will retail for the same $649 as the stock standard black and gold variants.
If you're not familiar with the OPPO R11, you should probably just read our review, but here's the TLDR. The R11 is a device we've been referring to as "OPPO's iPhone 7 Plus" thanks to its dual rear-facing camera configuration that works in a similar manner to Apple's.
With two sensors on the back - a 16MP primary camera and a 20MP secondary camera - the R11 is able to simulate up to two times zoom by swapping between lenses. Much like the iPhone 7 Plus, the R11 is able to use the dual rear-camera configuration for a portrait mode. The two cameras are used to get a better sense of depth, which is then used to blur the background.
Other key specifications include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 660 eight-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, and a 3000mAh battery. The R11 runs OPPO's customised version of Android - ColorOS - based on Nougat.
You'll miss out on red if you'd prefer to grab the R11 on a contract, but Virgin Mobile, Vodafone, and Woolworths Mobile are all ranging OPPO's latest.
